The One with Sophie and Isabella's Cookies

Last weekend, Sophie invited Isabella (her stepsister) to spend the night at our house. Because I know from experience that baking is a great activity for two pre-teen girls, I gave them the task of making Nestle Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Cookies. I confess: I craved something sweet but was too lazy to bake anything on my own. That's what kids are for, right?

Just the thought of making these cookies brought to mind the episode of Friends when Monica tries to figure out Phoebe's family's cookie recipe (Season 7, Episode 3, "The One with Phoebe's Cookies"). After days of trying to get it right, Phoebe finally reveals to Monica the name of the French relative who supposedly created the recipe.

Pronounced, of course, "Nesslay Toulous."

So, yeah. We giggled a lot about that during the cookie-making process.

Sophie and Isabella did a great job from start to finish. They mixed together all the dry ingredients...

... and they beat the eggs, the softened butter, and the vanilla extract together in a larger bowl, before blending it all together.

The best part was when the girls were convinced they'd messed up the recipe. I mean, the dough looks so... STICKY!

I assured them that they had, in fact, made perfect chocolate chip cookie dough. Check it out!

They put the dough on cookie sheets and insisted on making several regular cookies, three teeny-tiny cookies...

... and three absolutely enormous cookies.

The cookies were amazing!!! Once again, the girls had a blast in the kitchen, and I was able to enjoy the fruits of their labors. I'm getting the hang of this parenting thing!

In case you don't remember the recipe, here it is:

Even though it isn't Phoebe's secret recipe...

... it's still a real crowd-pleaser. Be sure to freeze the dough you don't use, so you can pop more cookies in the oven during the week. That's what we did!

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoy some "Nesslay Toulous" cookies soon!
